Kandy city is the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the Secred Temple of Tooth. It is a Buddhist temple and is located in the royal palace complex, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Lord Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country.
Traditional Kandian Dancing, classical dance forms are associated with performance of various rituals and ceremonies which are centuries old and are based on folk religion and folk beliefs going back to before the advent of Buddhism and its acceptance by the Sinhalese people in the 3rd century BC.
Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, the finest of its kind in Asia, the largest of the botanical gardens of Sri Lanka. Peradeniya is at an elevation of 500 meters above sea-level, were tightly bounded on three sides by a loop of River Mahaweli (Great sandy river), the largest river of Sri Lanka. It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants,
including orchid spices, medicinal plants, Flower Garden, Bamboo Collection, The Lake and palm trees.
Sri Lanka was affectionately known as “Ratna-Dweepa” which means Gem Island and also Marco Polo wrote that the island has the best sapphires, topazes, amethysts, and other gems in the world. In Detailed Udawattakele is a historic forest reserve on a hill-ridge in the city of Kandy. Udawattakele is also known as “Uda Wasala Watta” in Sinhalese meaning “the garden above the royal palace”. The reserve also contains a great variety of plant species, especially lianas, shrubs and small trees. There are several giant lianas. You can have a great few hours enjoying nature at its best. There are many kinds of mammals. Endemic mammals that live in the sanctuary are the pale-fronted toque macaque (Macaca sinica aurifrons), golden palm civet,mouse deer (Moschiola meminna), slender loris, and the dusky palm squirrel. Other mammals are the Indian muntjac, Indian boar, porcupine (Hysterix indica), Asian palm civet, small Indian civet, ruddy mongoose, Indian giant flying squirrel, greater bandicoot rat, Indian pangolin, greater false vampire bat, and Indian flying-fox. Udawattakele is a famous birdwatching site. About 80 bird species have been recorded in the sanctuary. The endemic bird species are Layard’s parakeet, yellow-fronted barbet, brown-capped babbler and Sri Lanka hanging parrot. The rare three-toed kingfisher Ceyx erythacus has been observed occasionally at the pond. Common hill myna, golden-fronted leafbird, blue-winged leafbird, spotted dove, emerald dove, Tickell’s blue flycatcher, white-rumped shama, crimson-fronted barbet, brown-headed barbet crested serpent eagle, and brown fish owl are regularly seen and heard in the forest.

Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka, bordering the Indian Ocean. You can put a big expectation of mostly seeing variety of wild animals and birds, Beacouse The park is best known for its
variety of wild animals.The park consists of five blocks. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds. Yala hosts a variety of ecosystems ranging from moist monsoon forests to freshwater and marine wetlands. It is one of the 70 Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Sri Lanka. Yala harbours 215 bird species including six endemic species of Sri Lanka. The number of mammals that has been recorded from the park is 44, and it has one of the highest leopard densities in the world. 25 individual leopards are estimated to roam in Block I. The elephant herd of Yala contains 300–350 individuals. The sloth bear, leopard, elephant, and wild water buffalo are all threatened species that Yala is harbouring.
